The Buffalo Flash professional women's soccer team plans to move its games to Canisius College from Orchard Park High School this summer.

The Flash's second season in the United Soccer Leagues W-League opens in Chicago on May 29, General Manager Henrik Ambarchian told a news conference Saturday at Sahlen Sports Park in Elma.

The rest of the schedule, including games at the 1,000-seat Demske Sports Complex, will be announced next week.

The team also announced that players will again train under the direction of employees of Thurman Thomas Sports Training for the 2010 season.

"I'm super excited," coach Aaran "Kiwi" Lines said. "They did a phenomenal job last year, my athletes were prepared. We're looking to further that this year."

Thomas, the former Bills running back and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, operates sport training facilities in Elma at Eastern Hills Mall.

"Last year was my first time seeing live soccer," Thomas said. "I'm excited. We have a different number of athletes coming from everywhere that really love the Buffalo community.

"People need to get behind them. We need bigger crowds and more people. I wouldn't put my name behind something if I didn't believe in it," Thomas said.

The Flash finished its inaugural season with a 10-3-3 record, losing to undefeated FC Indiana in the playoffs.

Last year, fan attendance went from about 100 from the first game to 600 at the final match.

"We managed to bring in players of high caliber to Buffalo from some of the top college programs in the country," Lines said. "We want to go into this season and play for the championship -- that's the goal."

Invitational tryouts will be held Mar. 5-7 at Sahlen Sports Park, 7070 Seneca St. Candidates may register at www.buffaloflashsoccer.com.
